The Rating System
The Tencap Rating System is the first accurate and dynamic tennis rating system with a handicap. Tencap

Tencap gives players feedback on their true level of play and removes the subjectivity from the NTRP Rating System.

Tencap your match... use your Tencap as a handicap
Ever play with those guys who always seem to beat you, no matter how close the match is? Ever wish you could accurately handicap a tennis match to level the playing field. With Tencap, you can!
Think about golf. When recreational golfers step onto the first tee for a round of golf, they have the option of playing handicapped golf – using each person's golf handicap to level the playing field and give every golfer an equal opportunity to win. Golfers accept the fact that their opponents may be better skilled than they are, and in recognizing that, they handicap the round of golf. This has helped bring a huge amount of camaraderie and participation in golf. Unfortunately, tennis hasn't caught onto handicaps...until now.
The Tencap Tennis Rating System allows players within a certain range to handicap their match so that both players have an equal opportunity to win. Like golf, you have a few options on how to handicap your match:
- The Dynamic Tencap: This is the most popular handicapping method of handicapping using Tencap. The difference between you and your opponents rating is the number of points the weaker player gets to use at any time during every set played. i.e. Player A with a Tencap of 24 plays player B with a Tencap of 30. Six points difference in the rating means that Player B (the lesser skilled player with a higher rating) can use six points at any time during the set against Player A to give himself a better chance of winning. This is a lot of fun and requires some strategy in deciding when to use the free points.
- Pre-game Tencap: Each two point difference in ratings is equivalent to one game difference in each set played. Therefore, in the same scenario as above, Player B can start the set with a 3-0 lead against Player A.
- Post-game Tencap: Play a regular set, at the end of the set, calculate the difference in the ratings of both players. Each two point difference in ratings is equivalent to one game difference in each set played. Add the adjusted games to the lesser skilled player's sets, and see who really won the match.
Next time you play, make sure you and your opponent have official Tencap Tennis Ratings, and try Tencapping your match.
