The league has organized play year round. Its biggest season is during the summer months and has more than 220 teams with 2500
players from 28 tennis clubs in the Kansas City area participate. As an interclub league, players are required to be members
of one of the clubs in the area in order to participate, adding an extra benefit of membership for all Kansas City Clubs.
The use of the Tencap technologies as well as the support of the Kansas City community has helped the league see growth every year since its inception.
Kathy Gates, League Director said “Moving over to the new Tencap technology platform in 2008 has been an enormous asset for
our business. We continue to see incredible results in the accuracy of player ratings and how they are used to group players
in different league divisions. For us, this is critical to the success of the league. Dynamic and accurate ratings give
players such valuable feedback on how they are doing, and allow the league to monitor the skill levels to make sure all divisions
are competitive. Competitive tennis is more fun for everyone involved, and ensures compatible matches every time the player
steps onto the court. Tencap Tennis truly fosters the growth of the sport.”
The League was founded in 1984 by two pros at Local clubs. They believed that interclub competition enhanced programming
at clubs but recognized the need for more resources to provide well organized competition. The first year there were less
than 50 teams from a handful of clubs. Growing steadily since its inception, the real spurt of growth occurred when the
League embraced the Tencap technologies. There were 450 teams in 2009. “Tencap provides us with the tools that allowed us
to grow and improve services to participants without adding additional staff. Wouldn’t any business love a technology that accomplishes that?” asked Kathy.
In 2009, 96% of all teams participating in the Major Infiniti Interclub League and ended the summer season with a percentage
of games between 40% - 60%. Only one team in the entire season finished the league winning more than 70% of their games.
“The bottom line is that Tencap has helped us to create a league that manages the players’ skill levels better than any
other system imaginable. The player connectivity, the administrative tools to help manage the site, and the dynamic ratings
make the system the most complete tool we have ever used. I wouldn’t want to run the League without it!”
