Tencap is a Tennis Rating System designed to help players gain an accurate assessment
of their level of play based on games played. Unlike the USTA’s well-known NTRP
system which bases your rating primarily off a professional’s opinion (or in the
case of self-rating, your own opinion), Tencap’s rating is based on games won or
lost against other opponents. It enables players to watch their ratings improve
while they play, instead of waiting for a pro to recognize the improvement and upgrade
the player to the next level.
Similar to the USGA’s golf handicap, Tencap’s rating system allows you to immediately
recognize the level of play of potential opponents, making it easier for club pros
to arrange games and easier for players to set up games without fear of mismatches.
Also, this unique rating system can make mismatches more competitive by using the
ratings as handicaps. The difference in two players’ ratings can equal the amount
of points a lesser player can use against a stronger opponent at any time during
a set in order to make the set more competitive.
For example, if John had a Tencap of 30 and Mike had a Tencap of 25, playing under
the handicap format, John could take 5 points to use whenever he would like during
every set of play. Through many years of detailed analysis of thousands of matches,
the rating system has determined that this will, on average, help make the set as
competitive as possible, giving both players an equal opportunity to win. We have
found the average score in sets using this handicap system to be 7-5, with more
than half of the matches ending in a tie-break.

Tencaptennis.com is the official website of the Tencap Tennis Rating. This website
not only acts as a tool to submit match information for rating adjustments, but
also acts as an administrative tool for all member facilities and a communication
and personalized progress page for individual Tencap members.

|
|
|
The website allows individuals to view up and coming events at their member clubs
or Tencap hosted events. It also allows members to view a history of friendly and
tournament/league games played, see adjusted ratings and graphs showing how ratings
have improved or dropped. Members can post pictures and blogs on their member’s
homepage as well as browse through the homepages of their fellow members. This will
act as a tool for members to find players of equal ability, allow members to track
performance and progress, and see what it will take to improve their games.

Tencaptennis.com acts as an essential administrative tool for tennis clubs and facilities.
It allows employees to easily arrange competitive games amongst their members. With
the events tools, the website allows facilities to better manage events, leagues
and tournaments using the Tencap Rating System. Reports on membership information
allow administrators to easily select groups of members to contact with the click
of a button. Daily, weekly or monthly emails can be automatically programmed into
the site to make communication with members easier and more efficient.
The website will also act as an excellent marketing tool for tennis clubs as pictures
and an information page of the facility will be added to the site. Tencap will be
the preferred website of all tennis players looking for club, tournaments or player
information.
